What Do You Want Your Boat For?

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

Entire lives used to depend on a fishing boat for food, not such a vessel is used for business or leisure activities. If fishing as a sport appeals to you and buying a boat is part of your plans, then you should have a look at the smaller-sized ones not larger than twenty feet. Vessels must show reliability in features, however, as they are designed to help you navigate against bad weather at sea, they should also provide speed and safety to you or your crew. The larger the fishing boat, the more extensive the crew and the capacity of the vessel to store captured fish.

Although having a personal fishing boat for leisure activities sounds great, very few people actually buy one. Most anglers would rather hire a boat, go to the fishing areas and return it when they get back on land. Having your own fishing boat with all the required electronic equipment for orientation and location may turn up very expensive. In addition to renting the boat, most anglers also hire a crew or captain who knows the fishing grounds very well and can easily direct them to sea area where the looked for type of fish live. Even so, only the equipment and the hiring of the boat may cost pretty much for a regular middle class angler to afford. That is why wealthy anglers are the ones to profit the most from such services.

As far as the fishing boat types are concerned, vessels come in many different shapes and sizes. Some are created for commercial purposes while others aim at recreational fishing only. The first type of fishing boat made in the dawns of humanity looked more like a canoe that could not go far from the shore. Nowadays, our technologies allow us a great deal and boats have enlarged in size and scope as well. The commercial fishing boat, for example, is definitely immense in terms of its size and the amount of caught fish volume it can store.

The trawler represents the most basic type of commercial fishing boat that relies on nests for extensive fishing. Other vessels worth mentioning include drifters, longliners, seiners, factory ships and so on. They are designed up to such quality standards and according to common manufacturing procedures that they are virtually risk free for the crew. The recreational fishing boat also comes in various shapes and sizes that include kayaks, charters, a pontoon or flounder boats. Presently, the private fishing boat has converted into a vessel used more for leisure purposes than for fishing as such.

Gas Saving Ideas

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

Can you believe how much we are paying for gas now? Its a fact of life that we have to deal with. Gas is expensive and will probably keep getting more expensive. We all need to learn to conserve gas in our own way. Here are some of my favorite tips to help get you save:

Drive Less

  • Use Other Transportation – You pay for public transporation with your tax dollars, so why not use it. Try riding a bike, forming a carpool or even walking (it’s not that far).
  •

  • Combine Trips – Pick up your cleaning and visit the post office on your way to the supermarket instead of making a separate trip. Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, Circuit City , and Lowes aren’t that far from each other. Plan out your trips for the week and cut back.
  •

  • Choose Closer Locations – This goes along with combining trips, if you can find what you want where you are already going, do it. Don’t spend your gas driving all over town when everything is in the strip mall right around the corner. If your favorite restaurant is on the other side of town and your second favorite restaurant is right around the corner, spend some more time at number two, it might grow on you more..
  •

  • Park in the First Spot – Do you really need to park (20 feet|thrity feet|40 feet|six spaces|five spaces} closer to the entrance? Just park in the first space you find. Circling the parking lot is a waste of time and gas.
  •

  • Rent a Car – Planning a long trip, consider renting a car that gets better gas mileage. Shop around and take advantage of Thrifty Car Rental Coupons. It will definitely save you money on gas, even enough to pay for the rental of the car or maybe even put money in your pocket.
  •

Find a Good Price

  • Pay Attention to Prices – Gas prices vary a lot from station to station and brand to brand so pay attention to all the gas stations that you pass on your way to work.
  •

  • Not the Lowest Price – Don’t try and find the “best” price around if it is going to cost you more in gas to get to the station than you are going to save with their price.
  •

  • Take Advantage of Offers – Get FREE gas with credit cards from the big oil companies. Some supermarket loyalty cards give you a discount on gas and you will have the added bonus on not having to make an extra trip.
  •

  • Buy on Tuesday – For some reason, gas prices vary during the week. They are usually cheaper in the middle of the week. This is not always the case, but it will make a little difference over the long run.
  •

Take Care of Your Car

  • Get a Tune Up – If your car is running better, you’ll use less gas.
  •

  • Maintenace – Do all of the little things. Change the oil, change the filters, fill the tires with air and keep the car clean. Save some money on your auto supplies with JC Whitney Coupons.
  •

It all sounds like common sense, right??? I’m sure everyone can come up with a few more tips. Feel free to leave a comment and share your ideas.
