Review of the Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

The Garmin Nuvi 660 Automotive GPS Navigation System has virtually every option you could ask for when you are driving along. The system is armed with the capacity to store two-gigs of data, a no-glare display, and wireless technology.

Standard Features

The readout of the Garmin Nuvi 660 is a generous 4 inches across, with a backlight and no-glare screen that will help you to view your Nuvi 660 even in the dark or in intense sunlight. Additionally, you will receive a CD instruction guide to read which will help you learn about the many uses of the Nuvi 660 before you put it to use.

You have the ability to pre-charge your unit with either a cigarette lighter adaptor or your regular plug-in adaptor, both of which are part of your package. You can effortlessly add music, audio books, and images to your Nuvi 660 with the included USB jack.

In addition to all this, you will also be given a leather protective case for your Garmin Nuvi 660 in the package you purchase.

Entering Destinations

The touch screen helps make the Nuvi 660 easy to use. You can enter your final stop by city name, zip code, or latitude and longitude. The only thing you need to know is some simple data about your precise destination, such as the city name and street address in order to create driving instructions on the Garmin Nuvi 660.

You will also have the ability to put your home address permanently in the navigator so that all you have to do is key in an endpoint when you begin your road trip. Your Nuvi 660 will also come graced with an FM radio and an MP3 player. The system is the perfect way to play music while using your Nuvi 660, since the travel guide will interrupt your music, making it easy for you to clearly understand the directions.

Traffic In Real Time

The AM and PM rushes can effortlessly be avoided when you take advantage of the Nuvi 660′s current traffic updater. All you need to do is to place your Garmin Nuvi 660 Automotive GPS Navigation System in your car and start making use of the real-time traffic update feature. The tool will help you find the quickest route to use to avoid the bulk of city traffic.

The data is easy to see by using the FM radio that comes with your Nuvi 660 package. The roads will be detailed with signs that show green, red, or yellow to find out where the the most traffic-free roads can be found.

Safety Features

The Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Navigator System uses a PIN number so that your unit may only be modified by you and your relatives. Taking the Nuvi 660 is not an attractive option since a thief would not be able to enjoy the unit unless one had the PIN number.

The Garmin Nuvi 660 also has a default function that does not make it possible to put in any destination while driving, but you can change this feature later on.

Three Kinds of Inexpensive Ink Cartridges

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

The quality of the pages you print is greatly affected by the paper and the ink cartridge that you choose to use.  Cheap paper can reduce your printer’s quality, and even though it is not always true, cheap ink cartridges can also cause your printer to produce images of a lesser caliber.  There are pros and cons when it comes to using each of the three different kinds of inexpensive ink cartridges.

Refill Ink

The first option for cheap ink is to refill your empty cartridges. This is generally the cheapest of all the alternatives, but it is also tends to wind up with the lowest quality prints.

It’ll depend on what brand and model of printer you have, but many of the newer printers are difficult to refill. It can also be quite messy because you’re dealing with bottled ink, trying to inject it back into the empty cartridge.

Recycled Cartridges

Many companies clean used cartridges, refill them with ink, test them for quality, and then sell them as recycled cartridges.

Results from this option are better than those that refill ink tends to offer, but there is also a greater cost involved since you have to pay for the labor involved in the recycling process.

These companies have refilling and cleaning equipment that can do a much better job of remanufacturing your empty cartridge. They also generally offer a guarantee on their work, so if the cartridge doesn’t work properly you can either get a replacement or get your money back.

Generic Cartridges

Due to patents on ink cartridges held by their manufacturers that make their reproduction illegal by other companies, use of generic cartridges is less widespread than that of the other alternatives.

There are some cartridges that you can find brand new generic replacement ink for. These generic cartridge are not recycled, they are new but they aren’t made by the printer companies themselves.

These cartridges tend to be the highest priced of the three options, but they are still cheaper than the original cartridges, and work just as well.

Which option will be best for you is going to depend a lot on how much printing you do, and what you’re printing. If you’re printing photos that you want to be able to keep for a lifetime, you’ll have different needs than if you’re just printing copies of web pages for future reference.

dual boot Windows 7 and Windows XP … Problem?

This will take only 2 minutes to read … I searched through many tutorials on dual booting, but almost then all claim to have XP installed first. Big problem I have all my data and no means of access for data transfer, backup, reinstall everything. I've had marginal success with Windows 7 installed. I can boot the Windows CD and install everything to the point of restarting. Upon restart I get "no operating system installed." And so begins the XP Recovery Console with fixmbr commands. No joy. Try the Windows 7 Bootsec works / fixmbr like a charm and reboot into Windows 7. So I have a half installing XP, and no idea how to proceed. Alsotryed manually added to the boot sector, but no luck. Any help is appreciated ^ ^

When you install XP second, you can overwrite the boot loader of Windows 7 – if you can boot into Windows 7 and the installation of XP is the sound, I would use a free utility called EasyBCD http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/easybcd/easybcd.html partition installed on Windows 7 and add an entry for Windows XP (in Add / Remove Entries – do not forget to click "Save" once you are done) http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/9571/easybcd2.gif

Duplicating Funny Sony Plasma TVs

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

You’re looking at buying televisions and you’ve got your eye on a Sony plasma television. When you are buying a Sony plasma television though, you should know of what to look for.

Others will be able to watch a sony plasma tv. Doing this will also help you to make up your mind about whether you want this particular television or whether you want something else. There’s also the little matter of sound quality, the overall design of the whole unit, and the fact that it’s a Sony plasma television.

A well cared for floor hardwood floor is perhaps is a beautiful and durable flooring but love it for its rugged imperfections as it will not stay perfect for long. A good natural floor is an investment that that will last for years. Finishes are one of the most important features of hardwood flooring and will strongly influence your decision about what floor to select.

Bamboo is more environmentally friendly than hardwood floors, and it is actually not wood. Installation again is by floating the floor – glueing the planks together and ensuring a firm join by using a floor clamp. Hardwood comes in a variety of strip and plank options. However, always bear in mind that the wider the width, the more the tendency for the floor to shrink and gap, or expand and buckle.

Not only do oily or waxy products on floors dull the sheen and damage the wood, they also cause chemical changes in the blonde brazilian cherry floorings which make re-coating the floor at a later time difficult because the wood no longer has the needed bonding power. Whether it’s oak, maple or cherry with the finishes available, you are sure to find a color that delights your soul. For natural beauty, it’s hard to beat the warmth of real hardwood flooring. In a damp environment wood will absorb moisture and this causes it to expand.

Vinyl laminate flooring can be a mistake, if it is not done correctly. Some laminates are available in plain colors, too. In 1996 it introduced a mechanical locking system that allows the laminate boards to be laid without glue.

African-American memorabilia

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

The history of the United States contains immigration of many races. It already started tens of thousands of years ago, when prehistoric Asian hunter-gatherers crossed the dry land that would later become the Bering Sea, and eventually spread out over the whole continent of America. Their offspring would later become known as American Indians. Then the Caucasians came, spreading over the whole continent in a very short time.

Only shortly afterwards the most disturbing part of New World history started: the period of slavery. In our days it’s difficult to understand the reasoning of this period, but we are still confronted with it, in different ways. The presence of the Black culture in the US is very prominent nowadays: the country has come a long way, even to the extend that at the moment I write this, an African-American is running for president! Yes, African-American history in the United States has changed (tremendously|for the good}, which sort of restores ones faith in mankind.

Nevertheless there are still many remnants of the times of Black enslavement and discrimination. Presently many of those have become collectable parts of Afro-American history. Under the general lable Black Americana those items are often collected. Sometimes by African-Americans who want to preserve part of their personal history in the form of African-American memorabilia, but also by other ethnicities who see them als valuable tokens of a time that was much different from our own, and that must not be forgotten.

Among these Black Americana or collectables are every day objects like kitchenalia, but also originals or replicas of objects from the slave period itself. Many books about this era can be found, and indeed should be studied. African-American memorabilia is a field of interest that reminds us all of how life should not be, and by keeping this reminder alive we contribute to more profound knowledge of African-American history.
