I dropped my external hard drive is fixable or is all hope lost?
My LaCie FireWire hard drive fell from my desk to hardwood floor. Now when you turn it on, my Mac does not even detect it is connected. I tried both USB and FireWire connections, not sense any way. The hard disk still goes on, but it makes strange noises. Before, when you switch it would be buzzing, sound, and then be relatively quiet. Now, it will buzz and then stops at intervals three before making this horrible sound long, electronic beep. I heard that putting a hard drive in the freezer can help. I wonder if anyone knows if this can fix my situation in particular or if I lose hope and give up my life savings a data recovery company.

After all, software professionals cannot be expected to know the intricacies involved in the operation of air traffic scheduling.
