Facts About Diamonds

Monday, October 5th, 2009

There are many different types of diamonds, based on the way they were formed or the process of their origin. They are broadly classified into just three categories, natural diamonds, thin film diamonds, and synthetic industrial diamonds.

When searching for the perfect Chicago diamond ring or any other piece of diamond jewelry be sure to check out Albert’s Diamond Jewelers – engagement rings, wedding rings, anniversary rings, diamond jewelry for all occasions.

A natural diamond is the most expensive type because it originates from nature. Based on the type of impurities that are present in them, they are further classified into four types.

Type 1a contains 0.3% nitrogen. This diamond is light yellow or brown in color because it absorbs blue light. Ninety-eight percent of all the natural diamonds are this kind. Type 1b contains 500ppm of nitrogen and are yellow, orange, green or brown in color.

Type 2a is the purest form of diamond. Because it contains very little impurities or imperfections, it is generally colorless or translucent. Type 2b is the rarest type of diamond, containing only traces of nitrogen which makes it give off a bluish tinge.

The price and the quality of a diamond are determined by five basic criteria. The first is color. Diamonds are available in colors ranging from yellow to green, and black to red. But the most pure forms are the transparent ones.

The second criterion is clarity. Most diamonds have certain imperfections that are called inclusions. The fewer inclusions it has, the more expensive the diamond. A clarity grade is determined by the number, size, location and the type of inclusions.

Next comes cut. It is the cut of a diamond and the number of facets, that makes it sparkle. Some of the globally recognized diamond cuts are the Marquise, the Baguette, the Princess, and the Radiant cut.

The weight of a diamond is measured in carats. Large, natural diamonds are extremely rare and because they have more weight than smaller ones, they are the most expensive. It stands to reason that only the very rich can afford these sparking beauties.

The shape of a diamond is different from the cut. After a diamond is cut, its overall outline needs to be shaped. The most popular shapes are the tear drop and the simple, classic round cut.

There are some specific things to check when choosing a stone for that special person. Some diamonds have fluorescence, which makes them glow when illuminated. Check for any artificial enhancements or treatments that have been done because this alters the value. Insist on getting a diamond certificate which guarantees its quality.

In fact, Pergo was the first make of laminate as its company essentially made laminate flooring. There are now in the order of 40 other brands of laminate flooring. Laminates are made from three essential layers : the surface wear layer ; the core ; and the backing.

An extraordinarily strong aluminum oxide makes up the surface layer. A pattern is seen as you look at the floor. This pattern is basically an outlined picture that has been applied to the clear surface. The pattern is regarded part of the surface layer, but several people think it to be an additional layer. Laminates seem like wood floors, when in fact, they’re really photos of wooden flooring applied to melamine laminate. Photographs for laminate floors also come in stone, brick, or tile, in addition to wood.

The core board ( also known as the carrier board ) is made of several various materials. Most of them are a medium density fiberboard ( or MDF ). This product is a tough engineered wood product ; it also is resistance to moisture. Other core boards may be wood particle core, but the MDF is a little sturdier. However the particle core board soaks up glue better the length of the joints. Each kind of core is good quality provided it is manufactured by a reputable company.

The backing board is reliant on the manufacturer. It may range from a mere paper layer to a whole plastic laminate layer. Those backings that contain laminate or Malamine hold up better if they come across water damage than are those with paper backings. All backings utilize heat and pressure to mingle the layers. Baby Crib Safety Tips & Guidelines

Monday, October 5th, 2009

When ranking baby’s equipment in terms of importance, most parents would agree that the standard crib would be the most important when you consider the length of time the baby stays in it. That piece of furniture represents one of the most significant expenditures that most new parents make when they have a newborn. While it is important when the crib looks charming and complements the décor in a child’s room, the most important point to think about is how safe, and in addition, how solid, your crib is. The question of safety needs to be your primary point of concern as you are contemplating the purchase of a new crib, such as the Davinci Annabelle Mini Crib.

SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is a well-known tragedy in America , and cribs could plausibly be the most obvious cause of those deaths. In view of their potential link to SIDS, the federal government has released specific standards to be complied with by any crib which has been built beginning in the year 1973. These rules were enacted to make certain that crib makers and merchants only market products which meet or surpass these set standards.

Even though regulations are in place that should guarantee the safety of all the baby products being sold today, it remains the job of the parents to take responsibility for your child’s safety when choosing and buying a crib. Keep in mind, this article is about pieces of furniture which hold our precious babies. All parents would quickly tell you that their child is irreplaceable and all actions that can be taken in the course of protecting their infant will be considered worthwhile.

One of the foremost rules for you to follow when you are planning on buying your baby crib is that the mattress has a very snug fit. Mattresses which are smaller than the crib frame may enable the baby to accidently go beside it, and eventually suffocate the infant.A good crib to consider is the Davinci Annabelle Mini Crib.

An additional important guideline pertaining to the mattress is whether or not the mattress is firm enough. Any particularly spongy mattress once again can possibly  cause asphyxiation because the face of the baby might be surrounded and encased in it. Finally, the side rails ought to be given a certain amount of consideration. The crib railings should be substantial and tight enough that your child’s head does not get trapped between them.

Prevention is oftentimes less irritating than the alternate consequences, so it makes sense that baby crib owners take precautions against preventable incidents such as suffocation. The Davinci Annabelle Mini Crib is a nice, safe product for the baby.
