Getting more traffic by leveraging your Twitter profile
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009Twitter.com has produced quite a media storm in the last few months with a frenzy of stars mentioning Twitter on their podcasts , and Internet marketing gurus telling you, we should use Twitter to build thousands of followers , the interest in Twitter is at a record peak . You most likely know people on Twitter and you may well have received bribes o follow people on Twitter. That brings us neatly to my point . What are YOU doing about it for yourself?
A lot of people, actually I think most, don’t even “get” Twitter. And that’s partly because it can be many different things to almost as many people. And to some extent, they may even be all true, at least to that person.
Despite what you think of Twitter for yourself, there are opportunities you should deploy and there’s a great FREE training video about that at http://www.TrafficHug.com/twittervideo/ but whatever you do, you should be doing something. Even at a minimum you have one more point of contact via Twitter , ideally with some way of people finding you by your keyword, or your name. It could be embarrassing if existing customers search for you and your competitor , or a cyber squatter, have beaten you to your own profile.
In other articles we talk about how to get noticed for your keyword and how to manage your account for targeted conversion (also covered well in that free video I mentioned earlier) but let’s do something we can do right now.
Most people perceive Twitter traffic as being an internal affair . A concept most Twitter directories encourage . But in the real Twitter , the advantages of having your normal traffic subscribe to you on Twitter are well worth having . So valuable that we need to do something about it now .
The easiest thing is to add a Twitter “badge” to your website, eCommerce store or blog . A badge is just an image showing who you are on Twitter with a link to your Twitter identity. In the videos I mentioned earlier , they go in to how you extend that concept , but the badge we can do now .
WHERE CAN I GET MY TWITTER BADGE ?
You can get your own customised Twitter badge at no cost from here ;
http://wwwTwitterHug.com/twitter/category/badge/ – FollowMe Twitter Badge .
You just paste the HTML it provides in to your page .
You can also paste the pure HTML in to most blog widgets. I’ve added them on all my blogs.
The Twitter badge is provided in its own HTML DIV so should live fine almost anywhere.
You can create an HTML table or div layer to house it, then you can just paste the code in easily . With WYSIWYG html editors, there is usually an HTML “object” box you can place in the desired location and just place the code in to that. Adobe Dreamweaver users can just insert an AP Layer (from the insert menu) and then paste the code in to that using the HTML code view pane.
Don’t delay. Add your Twitter badge today.
